Bal Harbour Shops expansion plan

Stanley Whitman recognized the potential in luxury retail long before the rest of the shopping center industry. In 1965 Whitman opened Bal Harbour Shops luring some of the famed retailers from 5th Avenue. In 1971 Neiman Marcus opened their first department store outside of Texas and in 1976 Saks Fifth Avenue opened, making Bal Harbour Shops the first shopping center to have Saks and Neiman Marcus as anchors.
